Description

Pen and Ink sketching is a great way for the student to train the hand, wrist and arm to practice drawing fundamentals. It involves a series of lines, dots, black and white, cross-hatching, stippling and many more techniques.  A good pen and ink artist learns the skills of observation and how to use drawing tools and concepts like proportion, value, tone and mood. While pen and ink is worked mostly in black and white, we will experiment with colored ink to enhance our work.

About the Teaching Artist
Aarti Mantri is a freelance artist in acrylic and mixed media paintings based in New Jersey. Art has always been a part of her since childhood; she was inspired and encouraged by her mother who is an artist in India. She is an Interior Designer and worked for over 5 years in the field, specializing in stained glass and landscaping. Nonetheless, her passion for fine arts forced her to pursue a career as a painter. Aarti conducts classes and workshops for children and adults for over 9 years now, and is a certified Grumbacher Art instructor. Her paintings were recently on view at libraries, and have been included in exhibitions at Community Centers and achieved “Honorable Mention Award” in April 2017 for one of her paintings.
