This class is designed to give young writers some tools and techniques to transform their experience of writing essays. Using the vast array of creative writing techniques to provide the foundation and enliven the content of the essay, young writers will be encouraged to explore the world creatively while making choices that will not only improve their writing but will also change their relationship to their academic writing. Writers in the class will focus on the narrative and the descriptive essay and also explore ways of writing in the often dry realm of the expository and persuasive essay. This is a class that encourages creative thinking where the mind is at play.
