Friday: Drawing - online

Drawing is now online. This class will be both a one-on-one experience with Barbara and a great opportunity to connect with other students with similar interest.

Learn the basics of drawing and how it can make you a better painter! In this class, we will explore free hand and perspective drawing made easy. We will go over shading and how to add color to enhance your drawing. Explore drawing from Nature, Still Life and Landscape using set-ups, the outdoors, or supplied reference. This class is especially for beginners to learn in a nurturing environment and teen homeschoolers are welcome.  About the Teaching Artist: Barbara is a design professional with 20 years of experience in Product and Surface design. As the owner of Barbara Schaeffer Design she has produced collections for the gift and home furnishings industries. Her clients have included Lenox Brands, Macy’s, Polo/Ralph Lauren and Avon Products. Barbara has begun a second career using her sense of color and composition as a painting teacher certified by Grumbacher. Recently she has brought her skills to residents in Assisted Living residences and as a member of the Senior Outreach program sponsored by the Princeton Arts Council. She has always had a keen interest in crafting and has been teaching a craft program she designed for seniors as well as an instructor at Michaels Art and Craft store, where she has taught every age group. She brings her love of simple materials and fascination with everyday objects to the projects she creates for her students. She refines each one, so that each item can be done by those with little or no expertise. Her greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the pleasure each student experiences when they make something they never thought they could do. Barbara holds a BFA from The University of the Arts and has studied at The School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design, and Mercer County Community College.
