Summary

This camp will be exploring fantastical worlds created by esteemed authors such as Maurice Sendak, Dr. Suess, Mo Willems, and more. Each day will focus on a new author. After reading each book, we will create a piece of art based on our 'story of the day'. This class is designed to inspire and nurture our creativity, love of literature, and enhance our motor skills. Our author/illustrators will also be given the opportunity to design their own original characters and tell their story.

Description

After reading each book, we will create a piece of art based on our 'story of the day'. This class is designed to inspire and nurture our creativity. We will also learn to create our own fragmented stories and illustrations in various mediums, while expanding on our love for literature and art!

About the Teaching Artist: Katelynn Kilcommons is a local artist that graduated from the University of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Illustration. For the past few years, after earning her teaching certification in K-12 Art, Katelynn has been teaching in various educational environments. On the weekends, she can be found face painting at local events. She has also started a company called Hues that focuses on teaching art within the comfort of people’s homes. Katelynn has been working freelance and her art will be featured in the “If Picasso” series this coming year.

Morning extended-day: 7:30am-9:00am, $50 per week | $10 per day
