Description
Ever thought about creating a nature journal? In this 4 session class we will meet each day at Turning Basin Park in Princeton to paint the landscape along the canal and study the plant life along path. You'll learn how to create a balanced composition across 2 pages in a sketchbook, how to choose and mix colors to match those in nature, how to capture the gesture of the trees, water and plants, and how to best use watercolor as a sketching medium.
Materials Needed:
8x10 Stillman & Birn Watercolor
Sketchbook, purchased through Amazon:
Winsor Newton Artist Grade Watercolor paints in the following colors: Ultramarine blue, Winsor red and Winsor yellow
Small container for water

Ultra fine point pen such as a Sharpie, Micron or a Uniball, in case you want to add some line work
About the Teaching Artist: Anne Kullaf is a contemporary painter working in a variety of media. Her paintings utilize the principles of drawing from direct observation combined with efficient brushwork and a limited palette. She is a faculty member of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, the Hunterdon Museum of Art, and the Center for Contemporary Art. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, she received a Bachelor of Science in graphic design and fine art and also studied painting at The Art Students League of NY. In 2014, she was painter-in-residence at Bryan Park, NYC and was recently invited to teach a watercolor workshop at the Princeton University Museum of Art.
