In addition to getting one article honed for publication through instructor and class-based feedback, we will cover the fundamentals of persuasive pitching; finding your target audience, researching where to submit, crafting a killer pitch letter (including best practices and what-not-to-do’s when approaching editors) and how and when to follow up.

Description
Sarah Showfety is an author, freelance writer, social media maven and comedian. Her work has been featured on The Doctors, The Lisa Oz Show, The Better Show, ABC News, BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, Yahoo!, the New York Post, Psychology Today, Someecards, Daily Mail and many international publications. With experience in both traditional and self-publishing, her skills range from writing successful query letters, agent/editor pitches and book proposals to creating viral online content that landed her most recent book deal, Dear Baby: I’m Sorry…Apologies for Life’s Little Parenting Fails. Sarah has published memoir, humor, personal essay, hard news and feature writing. She holds a degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
