Description

This class is an excellent way to introduce young artists to different forms of artistic expression and strengthen their existing foundations, all while having fun! Working in drawing, painting, and sculpture projects allows for growth in a variety of areas and exposure to a wide range of techniques.

About the Kindergarten Art Sampler Curriculum: Designed to introduce foundational concepts in a variety of media, the Art Sampler curriculum covers 3 years of new projects for this age group. Each session throughout the year has a different focus topic and weaves in continued learning and practice in other areas through creative projects in drawing, painting, sculpture, and more. For example, a session with a focus on drawing and painting techniques will also include an introduction to sculptural work. Other sessions will focus on sculpture, but continue to practice drawing and painting. This keeps learning new while building skills and encouraging creativity. Students work towards a Certificate of Achievement after 3 completed Art Sampler sessions with Ms.Truk.

About the Teaching Artist: Katie Truk received her BFA from Alfred University. She has been teaching multi-media classes to children and adults of all ages and levels since 2001 through personal lessons, visiting artist grants, and in places such as Creative Hands in Madison, Let’s Create in Boonton, Messy Artist in South Orange and the Summit Art Center. In her studio, the medium of choice is pantyhose. She combines the translucent and sensual nature of pantyhose and the rigidity of wire to create sculptures of complex depth and personality. These sculptures have been featured around the tri-state area.
