Description

Why limit yourself to just drawing, painting, or sculpture? Let’s do all three! Each week we will examine different materials while building our skills and learning new tricks of the trade. Concept, techniques, and a little art history will help encourage our creativity and appreciation of making and seeing art. Plus Ms.Truk's exuberance will make sure that it’s an enjoyable adventure!

About Advanced Art Sampler:
As your child grows, so does the curriculum to the Art Sampler classes.  We dive deeper in conquering the design principles, without losing our artistic style.  Understanding the importance of armature, without losing whimsy. Grasping the magic of color theory to control mood or drama, without the judgement of letting a student paint everything pink, again.  Training the eye to see and translate three dimensional forms to build confidence in drawing abilities out of the classroom.  Studying materials to better understand when to use what and how.  Most importantly we keep the fun, because when art becomes a chore we lose interest, respect for creativity and it puts out the little flame of passion that burns within us all.

About the Teaching Artist: Katie Truk received her BFA from Alfred University. She has been teaching multi-media classes to children and adults of all ages and levels since 2001 through personal lessons, visiting artist grants, and in places such as Creative Hands in Madison, Let’s Create in Boonton, Messy Artist in South Orange and the Summit Art Center. In her studio, the medium of choice is pantyhose. She combines the translucent and sensual nature of pantyhose and the rigidity of wire to create sculptures of complex depth and personality. These sculptures have been featured around the tri-state area.
