Description
Focusing on drawing techniques, this foundations course will build skills needed to continue on the visual arts track. In this class we will learn the vocabulary and explore the different drawing tools of an artist. We will create a value chart that will help us learn about tone, shading, and light sources. Next, we will use techniques like scribbling, crosshatching, and stippling to create a depth factor in art. We will then study color theory and explore with self-portraits and finally life drawing.
About the Teaching Artist
Pratibha Raju is an artist and a visual art teacher. Pratibha got her BFA specializing in Drawing and Painting in 1998 from India. Since then she has been practicing and teaching drawing and painting in different styles and mediums. Exhibited her paintings in Oil and Acrylic at the College Annual Art Shows, Coram Long Island and Piscataway libraries, also her watercolor landscape paintings were selected in the juried art shows last two years conducted by the Plainsboro Preserve. Pratibha has completed may art and teaching courses online from the British council and Coursera. Has taught in many schools for the last 20 years including the IB school in India with emphasis on holistic teaching. Passionate about teaching and making learning an enjoyable experience, Pratibha also works on figurative compositions, landscapes in oils and watercolors She has exhibited her paintings at libraries in Long Island NY and Piscataway NJ.
