Felt is one of the oldest known textiles and is perhaps one of the most unique and versatile fabrics available. Learn 3 methods for working with felt and discover the possibilities of its unique artistic properties. Each week you will complete a new project and learn progressively advanced techniques, from basic principles of wet felting to color blending and composition. You will be introduced to the Shashiko stitch and mixed media composition to create a 3D surface manipulation.
Materials list: bring several bath sized and hand towels, scissors and apron
About the Teaching Artist
Nelly Kouzmina is a self-taught fiber artist who loves the process of felt-making, sometimes more than the results! Kouzmina loves to experiment with different fibers, objects, dyes, and more. For her, felting is a liberation, passion, and love. Nelly has won several awards including the 2014 Best in Fiber Show Award at Trenton City Museum at Ellaslie, the 2014 First place in Highland Park Art Show, and First place, Best in Show at New Hope Arts & Crafts Show.
